Riverland Shops and Residence

736 Riverland Dr., Crested Butte, CO, 1995-97.

The Riverland Shops and Residence is located in a mixed use area within the Riverland Industrial Park. These passive solar structures are built with Integrated Concrete Forms (ICFs), a highly insulative wall system composed of concrete and recycled rigid insulation. The buildings are oriented along the east-west axis to maximize southern exposure and solar gain throughout the year. The north facing walls have minimal fenestration, reducing heat loss from the north. The beige stucco walls and sage green roof integrate the buildings into the natural landscape. Jim and Graham Hogan were the primary designers of the project.
