When the owners purchased a unique private open space parcel adjacent to the Town of Crested Butte, they were motivated by a desire to treat the land in a way that contributed to the overall well-being of the community. They worked with many enthusiastic community partners to realize the ecological, recreational, and social opportunities this parcel afforded.
As the land and buildings are visible from the highway entrance to town, it was important to preserve the ranching heritage of the land. A new barn and loafing shed were built in 2018. Great care was taken to make the new buildings look old, and they were crafted of reclaimed wood and locally sourced timbers.
