This mountain modern home is situated in a meadow surrounded by aspen forest on the northern slope of Red Mountain, just south of Crested Butte.Approaching from the uphill side, roof forms slope back to the hill and follow the natural contours of the land. The house appears to be one level. As you round the corner to approach the covered entry, both the architecture and the view aredramatically revealed. A lower walkout level captures the same views as the living spaces above.Four large lift and slide doors in the main living space encourage easy movement between indoors and outdoors.
A clear delineation of public and private spaces is the hallmark of this design. The flow of the floor planis a response to the homeowner’s daily routine. The master suite is at the far end of the home, away from the entry, providing maximum privacy. A well-lit pool and exercise room was a key element of the design and is placed central to the home. Bedrooms, bathrooms anda living area for guests are on the lower level, which has its own access to a lower level patio.
On the exterior, cedarand metalsidingwill pair with glulam and steel structural members for a cohesive look. Throughout the interior, warm wood floors and ceilings will work together with glulam and steel beams in spaces bathed in diffused northern light.
